The 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards kicked off in characteristic fashion, with experienced person co-hosts Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire trading barbs about present events and their beneficiary country superstars. However, one joke connecting a well-known bit of hearsay seemed to authentically stun one of the superstars in the audience--namely, Taylor Swift.
Shelton and McEntire, while furious a few jokes about present NFL darling Tim Tebow, made orientation to the report that the uber-famous quarterback had disappeared on a date with Swift--a report that complete headlines all over at the end of February. "Now we know what he's been praying for," Shelton deadpanned.
When the camera flashed on Swift, the fair-haired singer had a baffled appear on her face. Now, we know Swift is infamous for her theatrical on-air reactions, but in this case it appeared to be the genuine thing.
Its obvious Swift was annoying to be a good sport about the joke--but why so anxious? Could she in fact have not have heard the rumor...or could she be overcompensating at being called out on the truth? It's uncertain that the football star and Swift are in reality an item--most reports simply remarked about the two having dinner together--but hey, you by no means know.
The occurrence sparked some chatter on Twitter, with viewers more often than not chuckling about the joke. "Taylor Swift was looking extra salty after that Tim Tebow joke, HA!" one fan tweeted, while another inspired, "Oh T-Swift you're just too cute. And you so just long-established that date with Tebow."
Other fans felt Shelton went too far: "He was creation fun of Tim Tebow and Taylor swift," read a discontented tweet. "It was just impolite."
